What are the prerequisites for
admission? |
|
To be eligible for our General Stream, you should:
- hold a good first degree from a good university;
- have three years plus post graduation work experience; and
- have achieved a satisfactory score of 580 or above in GMAT, GRK or equivalent.
An applicant who is seeking admission on the basis of a
qualification from a university of comparable institution outside Hong
Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination is not
English is required to obtain:
- a score of 550 or above in the paper-based Test of English as a
Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a score of 213 in the computer-base
TOEFL or a score of 80 in the internet-based TOEFL [The HKU code
number for TOEFL is 9671]; or
- a minimum overall band of 6 with no subtest lower than 5.5 in the
International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or any equivalent English exam.
To be eligible for our Executive Stream, you should:
- hold a good first degree from a good university;
- at least 7 years of work experience, with 3 years in Middle/Senior level of management position
- Pass the Preliminary Review upon Application
- Pass the English Admission Exam
- Have achevied a satisfactory score in GMAT score of 580 or above.
An applicant who is seeking admission on the basis of a qualification from a university of comparable institution outside Hong Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination is not English is required to obtain:
- a score of 550 or above in the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a score of 213 in the computer-base TOEFL or a score of 80 in the internet-based TOEFL [The HKU code number for TOEFL is 9671]; or
- a minimum overall band of 6 with no subtest lower than 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or any equivalent English exam.

If an applicant does not satisfy the requirements of 1) and/or 3) above, he/she may be admitted in exceptional circumstances if he/she
- demonstrates adequate preparation for studies at a master's level; and
- has more than ten years of exceptional business experience at senior management level.

Can you give a brief description of the
programme? |
|
The programme is a joint effort between the
Faculty of Business and Economics of The University of Hong Kong and
the School of Management of Fudan University. The Programme was
launched in September 1998 and was the first non-local programme
approved by the Ministry of Education in China. This is a two-year,
part-time programme for business executives working in Shanghai.

|
Teaching is shared between the faculties of the
University of Hong Kong and Fudan University.

What factors are considered in admission
decision? |
|
We will consider the overall assessment of the
degree, working experience, GMAT or GRK score, referees' recommendation
and interview performance.

Do I need to take TOEFL? |
|
An applicant who is seeking admission on the
basis on a qualification from a university or comparable institution
outside Hong Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination
is not English is required to obtain a TOEFL score of 550 or above in

Is there a required minimum GMAT or GRK score? |
|
Minimum GMAT score
is 580. For candidates
attempting the GRK examination, the required GRK score will be decided
by the Committee based on the result of the year.

How many years of work experience are required to be qualified for
admission? |
|
Minimum is three years of
post-graduation work experience. We admit students who have potential
for senior managerial posts.
No industry is favoured over another. Experience in either
private sector or public sector is considered relevant.

What is an average student profile? |
|
A typical student is in his/her late twenties or
early thirties with five to six years' post-university work experience.
He/She is working as a mid or senior manager in a Sino-foreign
joint venture, a multinational company, a state-owned enterprise or a
private enterprise.

How do I apply for the programme? |
|
Applicants should register online and submit supporting documents including with the recommendation letters from their employers,
originals and copies of their certificates to Fudan University.
Applicants should indicate this Hong Kong University - Fudan University
MBA (International) Programme as their choice out of the three
programmes administered by Fudan University.
Applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee as soon as
all the required documents have been received. As it often takes
considerable time to gather references and transcripts, we strongly
encourage applicants to apply as early as possible.
Limited seats are available every year and candidates are admitted
on a continuous and rolling basis. Not all applicants will be
interviewed. Once suitable candidates have been shortlisted, they
will be informed of specific interview arrangement.

What is the curriculum of the programme? |
|
There are core and elective courses. Students are required to complete twelve core courses and six elective courses for graduation purpose. For more details, please refer to “Course Structure” on our website.

What is the cost of the programme? |
|
The total programme fee for the 2012 intake is RMB188,000 (General Stream) and RMB228,000 (Executive Stream). The tuition fee will be paid by two instalments over two years for part-time study in Shanghai. The programme Fee for the 2013 intake will be announced in due course.

Is there any financial aid, scholarships,
fellowships or loans for this programme? |
|
Scholarships are available for outstanding
candidates.
|

Can I apply for exemption? |
|
If students have completed relevant courses in
their previous academic study, they can apply to be exempted from a
certain core course, but they have to choose an elective in lieu, if
the application is approved.
|

When and where are classes held? |
|
Depending on timetabling arrangement, General Stream classes are held either on Fridays and Saturdays or Sundays and Mondays; Executive Stream classes are held from Friday to Monday.
The courses are scheduled in four quarters each year :
- The first quarter is from September to November.
- The second quarter is from December to February.
- The third quarter is from March to May.
- The fourth quarter is from June to August.
Classes are held in the modern seminar rooms (with internet access) in the School of Management of Fudan University.

Can credits earned in the Hong Kong University MBA
programme be transferred to this Hong Kong University - Fudan
University MBA (International) programme? |
|
Any Hong Kong University MBA Programme student
may take elective courses in the MBA (International) Programme if they
are assigned to work in Shanghai and vice versa, subject to the
availability of places and the approval of The University. Credits earned
can be transferred.
