GBIA: About FBE
The Faculty now offers many programs from the undergraduate to the master and doctoral levels, as well as EMBA and executive education. Its full-time MBA program was ranked the first in Asia by The Economist in 2011. More information on the Faculty can be found at: http://www.fbe.hku.hk/.
HKU is an international institution and English is the medium of teaching and learning. About 50 percent of the academic staff and 25 percent of the student body are from outside Hong Kong. In addition to the regular students, there are also thousands of exchange students from overseas every year. A high percentage of these exchange students are either hosted by FBE or at least take some FBE courses. We therefore have an international learning environment as well as bountiful experience in teaching and accommodating students from overseas.
In addition to teaching in Hong Kong, FBE has offered an MBA (International) program in Shanghai since 1998. It is one of the first degree programs offered in the Chinese mainland by a non-mainland institution since China’s economic reform and opening-up. By now there have already been 3,000 graduates from this MBA program, most of whom have assumed upper management positions in various corporations and institutions. These alumni in Shanghai, together with those in Hong Kong, will be part of the rich resources that we will draw on in the lineup of representative companies for site visits and speakers to share their business insights.
FBE runs the Asia Case Research Centre which research and publish cases as teaching materials in business and related courses. This Centre is one of the foremost in Asia and a high percentage of its cases are on companies in China and Hong Kong. These publications are indicative of our expertise in the area and provide ready teaching materials for the program.
All in all, we are very well poised to offer a successful summer program on China business and economy for both overseas and local students.
