Within our Asia-Pacific orientation is a strong focus on China business, which renders our MBA highly relevant to the region’s dynamic and ever-evolving business environment. This China focus is achieved through pertinent and customised teaching materials, the local business knowledge of our faculty members, regular company visits, business field trips to China and Chinese language training.
One of our key differentiators is the Asia Case Research Centre (ACRC), which develops content-rich business case studies to meet the growing need for business education in Asia in general and China in particular. Our research-led teaching framework keeps our students abreast of emerging business strategies, economic policies, management practices and financial developments across the region.

In The Economist’s latest World MBA Rankings, the programme is yet again ranked first in Asia for the 9th consecutive year, and has achieved No. 39 rank worldwide. Given the relatively short history of the full-time MBA programme at HKU, the Faculty of Business and Economics’ achievement of such high regional and world rankings is impressive indeed. In addition to The Economist rankings, the HKU MBA is consistently ranked amongst the top programmes in the world in other scales.
The Programme in the Financial Times ranking 2018, we are No. 33 in the world. We are one of the region’s youngest MBA programmes, but have managed to grow and build one of its most dynamic in a very short period of time.
The 2018 Financial Times ‘Top MBAs for Finance’, ranks HKU MBA No. 13 in the world, and ‘Top MBAs for Entrepreneurship’ ranks HKU MBA No. 2 in Asia and No. 31 in the world.
In the Forbes Full-time MBA Rankings: The Best International MBAs: One-Year Programs, HKU MBA is ranked No. 7. Forbes ranks top non-US programs in 1 year and 2 year’s category.
EMBA Global Asia, Executive MBA programme offered jointly by HKU, Columbia Business School and London Business School, is currently ranked No. 2 in the world by Financial Times.
HKU as a whole is ranked No. 25 in the world in the QS World University Rankings® 2019, and ranked No. 33 in the world in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2019. The university is also consistently ranked as one of the top universities in Asia in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
Career Development Office (CDO) partners with MBA students to help you to devise a career development strategy and guide you through the career exploration and planning stages, provide career and job search training, and leverage networking opportunities to position yourselves for local, regional and international careers. The CDO also offers a wide range of workshops throughout the MBA programme, including workshops on interview skills and cover letter and resume writing. In addition, it holds a variety of career treks and networking events to maximise students’ exposure to potential employers and the wider business community.

Students benefit from the international experience and state-of-the-art knowledge of three of the world’s major business centres: Hong Kong, London and New York. Our partnership with Fudan University in Shanghai further enhances learning by giving students’ in-depth insight into doing business in the world’s biggest marketplace.
Alumni engagement is an integral part of building an alumni community and providing a platform for students and alumni to exchange knowledge and forge friendships. Such engagement is beneficial to both students and alumni, as it helps them to expand their professional networks and creates opportunities for personal and career development. The many initiatives of Alumni Services help to enrich students’ MBA experience. These initiatives include enrichment and networking activities, an alumni portal and regional alumni chapters.
