The MBA Advisory Board offers advice, from time to time, for the further development of our full-time and part-time MBA programmes. The Board is comprised of internal (faculty members) and external advisors. Below is a list of our external members:

Mr. Walter Cheung
Head of Communications and Corporate Sustainability
Hang Seng Bank
Walter Cheung is the founding Head of Communications and Corporate Sustainability at Hang Seng Bank, reporting directly to the CEO. His communication and management achievements have been recognised with numerous Hong Kong, mainland China and international awards, including Public Relations Professional of the Year by PRWeek; Gold Quill Awards from the International Public Relations Association; Best Investor Relations by a HK Company (Large Cap) Awards from IR Magazine; and Environmental Excellence Award in the Asian CSR Awards.
Mr Cheung is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a Director of the China International Public Relations Association; and a Member of the Public Relations Committee of The Community Chest of Hong Kong.
His past appointments include Chairman of Hong Kong Baptist University's (HKBU) School of Communication Advisory Committee; Chairman of The Chinese University of Hong Kong's Journalism & Communication Alumni Associations; and Member of HKBU's School of Business Advisory Committee. He was previously Senior Marketing Manager at TVB International and Head of Marketing Communications for Asia at a Fortune 30 hi-tech company. Mr Cheung began his career as a reporter with the South China Morning Post, where he rose to the second-most senior position for general news in Hong Kong.
Dr. Allen Fung
Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited
Allen Fung is an Executive Director of Sun Hung Kai Properties, and is the chief executive officer of its non-property portfolio investments. He is also a non-executive director of SmarTone Holdings, SUNeVision Holdings and Transport International Holdings. Before Sun Hung Kai, Allen was a director at McKinsey and Company and its managing partner for Hong Kong for 7 years.
Allen received his undergraduate degree at Oxford and a PhD in History and East Asian Languages at Harvard. He was a visiting assistant professor of history at Brown University. Allen is active in community affairs. He is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Society for Protection of Children. He is also a council member of both the Hong Kong Management Association and the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, as well a member of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service.
Mr. Trent Hagland
Mitsubishi UFJ Securities - Hong Kong & Singapore
Mr Hagland has over 25 years experience in the Financial Services industry across retail banking, portfolio management and investment banking.
Mr Hagland served as the Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Hong Kong, where he oversaw operations in Capital Markets, Equities, Rates Trading and Sales, Credit Trading and Sales, and Structured Products. Subsequently in the role of Head of Asia, Mr Hagland oversaw all securities-related business conducted by the Group in Asia-ex Japan. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of both the MUFG Securities Hong Kong and MUFG Securities Singapore entities.
Prior to working with MUFG, Mr Hagland worked for Merrill Lynch for 12 years across Sydney, New York and London in Fixed Income Trading. Before this Mr Hagland worked in retail banking and then as a Portfolio Manager at the Queensland Treasury Corporation.
Mr Hagland graduated from the University of Queensland with a Master of Financial Management and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics. He has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia and is a CFA Charterholder. His Undergraduate Degree was a Bachelor of Business from the Queensland University of Technology.
Mr Hagland is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. He also served as a Board Member of the Asian Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and on the HK SFC (Securities and Futures Commission) Academic Accreditation and Advisory Committee. Mr Hagland remains a current member of the HKU MBA Advisory Board.
Mrs. Amy Lo
Country Head & Chief Executive
UBS Hong Kong
Amy Lo is the CEO of UBS Wealth Management Hong Kong and Chief Executive of UBS Hong Kong Branch. She has been appointed Group Managing Director at UBS since July 2013.
Based in Hong Kong, Amy is responsible for leading and managing UBS' wealth Management business in the Greater China region. In her capacity as the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong branch, she is also responsible for the strategy development, regulatory interface, and UBS activities in Hong Kong.
Since joining the bank in 1995, Amy has held a number of senior management positions including Deputy CEO of Wealth Management Hong Kong; Regional Market Manager of Hong Kong; Country Team Head of Hong Kong; Chief of Staff and Deputy Booking Centre Head of Hong Kong. Before taking on her current role, she was the regional Head of Ultra-High Net Worth and Head of Global Family Office for Asia Pacific.
Ms. Edith Shih
Head Group General Counsel and Company Secretary
CK Hutchison Holdings Limited
Edith Shih heads a team of over 270 legal counsels and 50 corporate secretarial executives, stationed in 60 offices in 23 countries, overseeing legal, regulatory, compliance, and corporate secretarial affairs of the Hutchison Group. She is qualified to practise law in England and Wales, Hong Kong and Victoria, Australia. Edith is currently President of Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Chairman of its Company Secretaries Panel, a Convenor and Member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of the Financial Review Council, a Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Member of the General Committee of the Hong Kong Management Association. She was a Member of the Listing Committee of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform.
Mr. Stanley Emmett Thomas
Partner, Head of Asia
Advantage Partners (H.K.) Limited
Emmett joined Advantage Partners in 2007 to lead the firm's activities in Asia ex-Japan. Advantage Partners is one of the leading Private Equity firms in North Asia, having invested over US$2.0 billion in more than 40 companies over the last 15 years. Emmett has led several investments for Advantage Partners, in a variety of industries media, telecom, and business services. In addition, he oversees Advantage Partner's portfolio company activities in Asia ex-Japan.
Emmett started his career in Tokyo at TSE-listed SMC Corporation, the factory automation manufacturer. After graduation from business school, he spent 19 years at the Monitor Group, the global strategy consulting firm, working in the Cambridge, Tokyo, and Hong Kong offices. For the last 10 years, he served as President of Asia. He has led more than 200 consulting engagements, across a wide variety of sectors. He graduated from Duke University with a B.A in Economics and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has resided in Asia for more than 20 years.
