Camera-ready Paper Preparation Guidelines (Deadline: August 25th, 2006)
Detailed Instructions (link to simple instructions)
It is important that you follow these instructions closely. If your submission does not conform to the guidelines, it will be returned to you for amendment. If you are unable to update your paper in time to meet the publication deadline, it will not be published.
All conference
articles submitted to CIS 2006 will be included in IEEE Xplore. These articles must adhere to the IEEE Xplore PDF
specification for compatibility. CIS 2006 has registered for use of a new IEEE tool:
IEEE PDF eXpress ™. IEEE PDF eXpress is a free service to IEEE conferences, allowing authors to make IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs (Conversion function) or to check PDFs that authors have made
themselves for IEEE Xplore compatibility (PDF Check function).
Step 1. Prepare your final manuscript
using the IEEE two-column format. Please follow the templates which can be
downloaded here:
The maximum length for "extended papers" is 6 pages.
The maximum length for "regular papers" is 4 pages.
Step 2. Proofread and check layout
of manuscript.
Step 3. Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account.

Step 5. Receive IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF(s). After
successful checking or conversion (which may take some time), you'll have a
PDF file with a filename PIDxxxxx. Please DO NOT rename this file.

IEEE PDF eXpress converts the following file types to PDF:
- Rich Text Format
- Freelance
- (La)TeX (DVI and all support files required)*
- PageMaker
- FrameMaker
- QuarkXpress*
- Word Pro
- Microsoft Word
- WordPerfect
*For documents created in formats that do not embed source files, include all support files with
the final manuscript in a folder. Put this folder in a compressed archive for submission. If it is
possible to embed images in the source document, you should do so to avoid potential issues,
such as missing graphics.
IMPORTANT: A DVI (DeVice Independent file) is required for LaTeX conversions, in addition to
all associated image files. Make sure that your LaTeX system can output a DVI, otherwise it
cannot be converted. Be sure also to check that your images are properly referenced, and that
DVI can handle the image file types used (DVI does not handle some newer image types, such
as *.png).
Step 6. In order to publish your paper in the proceedings, we require the manuscript itself and a signed
copyright form. You can download the form from this page. The copyright form
should be completed, signed, and scanned as an image file.
Step 7. Submit a compressed file named paperID.zip or
paperID.rar (e.g., if your paper
ID is: AP123456, the compressed file name should be: AP123456.zip or
AP123456.rar) consisting of the following three files:
- The final IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF created by IEEE PDF Express (PIDxxxxx.pdf)
- Your source files, including all figure files (named as PIDxxxxx.doc for MS
word file or PIDxxxxx.tex for latex file, etc, where the PIDxxxxx must be the same as PIDxxxxx in
PIDxxxxx.pdf generated by IEEE PDF Express. You can use your defined file
names for your figures).
- The completed and signed copyright form (scanned as an image file).
The compressed file should be submitted through
the online system at http://210.27.5.143/cis/crp/
