Best Student Paper Competition

Awards

  1. The first-place will receive HK$4,000.
  2. The second-place will receive HK$2,000.
  3. Each honorable mention will receive HK$500.

Eligibility Requirements and Author Guidelines

  1. To participate in the competition, please send the paper (a PDF file) with email subject “Best Student Paper Competition” to pomshk2020@hku.hk on or before 30 October, 2019.
    • In your email, please include your paper title, authors’ names (highlight the corresponding student author), affiliations, and three to five key words.
  2. Competition participants should be students. The paper should be led and presented by the student at the conference. Each participant is required to register the conference and submit only one entry for the competition. Failure to register the conference may lose the eligibility of the competition.
  3. The topic of the paper must fit the conference’s theme. The paper should be written in English, and the presentation should be conducted in English as well.
  4. The paper should not be accepted or published in any journal at the time of submission.
  5. The paper should meet the following requirements.
    • The paper should not exceed 32 pages including the appendices.
    • Spacing and formatting should follow the instructions for manuscripts submitted for consideration by the Production and Operations Management, available at http://www.poms.org/journal/author_instructions/.
  6. Submissions for student paper competition will be considered for conference presentation automatically. Please do not submit the same paper for other conference programs.

Award Selection Criteria

Each paper/presentation will be evaluated based on two criteria:

  1. Academic significance (originality, depth, completeness and work’s potential impact on future research).
  2. Business or engineering relevance (importance of the problem and its impact on business or engineering practice).
