Abstract:
The business ecosystem research is demanding due to the emerging industry's uncertainty and highly partners' interoperability. Many industrial phenomenon like Apple's online store, Taobao's e-platform, ARM's connected community, China Mobile's open system, highlighted the nature of co-evolution with their ecosystem partners, thus, resulted in the popularity of business ecosystem research. This concept is proposed firstly at 1993, as an interdependent community composed of industrial players, governments, industrial associations and other stakeholders, who share the fate and co-evolve.
During last 20 years, there are not many studies on this area until the emergency of some new industries with complicated and uncertain products like smartphone, electric vehicles and mobile internet industries. The previous studies only focused on the part structure of a business ecosystem such as role's type, platform, lifecycle and failed to explore the whole system's evolution and construct. We have proposed a 6C framework- 'context, construct, configuration, cooperation, capability and change' to fully address the system evolution, which help us understand what is a business ecosystem, what kind of industries need to nurture business ecosystems, how to nurture a business ecosystem, what compose of a business ecosystem. The 6C framework will be a fundamental theoretical construct for future research on the business ecosystem theory.
In this seminar, several key emerging industries will be introduced to demonstrate the way to nurture business ecosystems such as mobile phone, electric vehicle, apps and e-business as well.
