Abstract:
Digital technologies and the changing nature of competition are driving organizations to pursue new avenues for extracting value from their technology investments. Information Systems researchers have used economic, social and behavioral theories to investigate the roles of information and technology in contemporary organizations and markets in enabling value realization. This workshop will provide an overview of the theory development process and its application to the IT business value context. The workshop will also provide an overview of IT business value research through the decades and highlight the current state and future opportunities in this research.
