Admissions Requirements

For the Master of Global Management programme, there is no specified requirement on the field of applicants’ undergraduate studies. Applicants from different fields are welcome to apply.

To be eligible to apply to our programme, you must:

  • Hold a recognized Bachelor's degree;
  • Obtain statements from two referees, regarding the suitability for the programme; and
  • Obtain a TOEFL/IELTS score if not from an English-medium university.

Exceptional performance in one area may compensate another area.

We will consider the entire profile of the applicant, including previous academic performance, TOEFL/IELTS test scores (if applicable), referees' recommendation, working experience and professional qualifications, etc.

Test Scores

If your previous degree was obtained from a university where the language of teaching and/or examination is not English, you are required to submit a TOEFL/IELTS score.

For TOEFL, the minimum score required is 550 in the paper-based test, 213 in the computer-based test, and 80 in the internet-based test.

For IELTS, a minimum overall band of 6.0 with no subtest lower than 5.5 is required. Test scores more than two years old will not be accepted.

GMAT/GRE scores are not required, but a good GMAT/GRE score will be favorably considered and can be helpful for marginal cases. If you want to submit a GMAT or GRE score, you should upload a copy of the test report together with other supporting documents to the application system.

Please use these school codes to send the reports to us:

  • TOEFL: 9671 | GRE: 2482 | GMAT: FS2-WL-48

Application Process

Since the application system doesn’t allow any changes in the application form after submission, you can email the updated/additional information to MGMadmissions@hku.hk directly, quoting your application number and we will help you make the changes in your application file.

After inputting your referee details in the application form, you need to send the reference form to your two referees. The completed reference forms should be emailed to us at MGMref@hku.hk directly from your referees’ email accounts, which should be the same as the ones you put down in the Referees section of your application form. If you would like to provide additional reference letters, you can upload them to the application website as supporting documents.

You can log into online application system at http://www.aal.hku.hk/tpg/login.html and go to the upload page. If your application account—valid for four weeks only—has expired or the file size is too large to be uploaded, you can email the supporting documents to MGMadmissions@hku.hk directly, quoting your application number. We will add them to your application file at the backend.

Yes, it is possible for you to apply to multiple programmes at HKU. However, you can only accept the offer and enroll into one programme.

Interview & Admissions Result

Interviews may be required for some candidates. We will email the interview notification directly to shortlisted candidates if an interview is required. Face-to-face interviews will be conducted for local candidates and Skype video interviews for non-local candidates.

The Admissions Committee will start to review the applications after each application deadline. It generally takes around 8 weeks for the admission results to be ready after the deadline. We will contact admitted applicants directly by email. For those who do not receive an offer, their applications will be considered again in the following round(s) until the end of the whole admissions cycle.
