As richer and more relevant data on consumer search become increasingly available to academic community, there is a growing interest among empirical researchers to examine consumer search behavior and its economic implications with structural models based on the early theoretical work. This lecture focuses on the recent development in applying structural models to the analysis of consumer search. The important models, estimation methods and their applicability to various types of data will be discussed along with future research directions in this area.
